Welcome to episode 42 of the Tablet PC Show! I’m flying solo this week and jump right in…

News and Updates:

I got some help recently to solve a problem with ActiveWords. When my tablet came out of sleep mode, ActiveWords would re-start adding several seconds to the waking up. Fortunately, the folks at ActiveWords has this solution:

Some users experienced a problem with ActiveWords handling the process of coming out of Standby/Hibernation so we configured ActiveWords to shut down when entering standby, then restart coming out of standby. You can leave ActiveWords running through standby and hibernation by making the following change.

1. Open the file: “C:\Program Files\ActiveWords\Users\[username]\AWMonitor.ini” using Windows Notepad or another text editor.

2. Locate the line for “Restart After Suspend=1″ in the [Config] section and change it (or add it if it is not present) so it reads: “Restart After Suspend=0″.

3. Restart ActiveWords.

I’ve been playing a bit with FranklinCovey PlanPlus for Outlook. It’s decent, but I’m not sold on it. I’m looking for a better methodology to help control my workflow and am considering FranklinCovey as well as Getting Things Done. Any ideas?

I’ve also been playing around with MindManager by MindJet. It’s a very nice application that integrates well into Office. However I’m just not sold on mind mapping in general. Maybe I just don’t get it. Anyone want to straighten me out on this?

I’ve also been trying out PDF Annotator (very nice), but don’t think I’ll use it enough to buy it. Same thing for Anagram for Outlook.

Actually, I just want to see inherent small screen support. Win Mobile has it; XP doesn’t… but it needs it if the UMPC is to succeed. (Or more accurately, Vista needs it.)
