Tablet PC Show #28

The Tablet PC Show #028 (MP3 – 6.86MB – 20 min)

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST HERE

Welcome to episode 28 of the Tablet PC Show! This episode is a bit late and a bit short, the reasons for which are explained at the beginning of the show.

It all starts with the release several days ago of the InkGestures add-in for Microsoft Word…

That spured me to rebuild my tablet completely and the efforts towards that goal are the topic of discussion for the podcast.

I do take a brief sidetrack discussing runnig Windows Vista briefly on my tablet.

I give out the Poll Question of the Week, which is a call for your opinion of InkGestures.
Take the poll here
.

Lastly, I name the Site of the Week. This time it’s not a fun site, but is extremely useful, especially when rebuilding a system: Microsoft Update.

I wrap up the podcast as always by asking for comments and feedback from the listeners.

    Hi,

I’m from Bolivia (South America) and I’m a regular listener to this podcast. I enjoy every Tuesday (on the way to work)the topics you brought to us in my small Creative Zen Micro. You are doing a great job!!!

I’m planning to change my tabletpc, but I think that I have to wait till June to see new models on the stores, rigth? What do yu think?

  3. Perry Says:

Juan, thanks very much for listening!

As for purchasing a new Tablet, I do think we’re going to see some new models later this year, probably some very small “ultra portable” tablets, so if that’s what you’re looking for you may want to wait a bit. However, there are ALWAYS going to be new models just around the corner that will be more powerful or cheaper than what’s available today, so at some point you just have to take the leap and buy something that’s available now, knowing that very soon it will be obsoleted by something newer. That’s just the way it goes when the technology changes and improves so quickly. There are certainly plenty of very nice, very capable Tablet PCs available right now.

I was having the same problem with InkGesters and Office 2003. I contacted their technical support and they said I was missing (just as you said) the Office 2003 Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA). It is available at:

Once I installed that program, all went well!

  5. Perry Says:

That’s very good to know, thanks!!

Great show, I appreciate the insights into the rebuild experience, and not just a show about installing new stuff.

One critique, slow down! You’re still talking too fast, way too fast; you can hear breaths being taken every other word as if your own lungs can’t keep up!
