Tablet PC Show #27
The Tablet PC Show #027 (MP3 – 12.7xMB – 36 min)
Welcome to episode 27 of the Tablet PC Show! I begin by explaining the delay in getting this episode out since the last show. Then it’s on to…
News and updates:
I first discuss the new Windows Live Messenger beta and give listeners a special offer.
Then I compare a new feature of Windows Vista, the 3D stack, with an existing utility called Katmouse.
We take a quick timeout for a message from TPN.
I then talk about a new free service from GotVoice which allows you to manage your home and mobile phone voicemail on your PC.
We continue our discussion of the next generation Tablet PC, this time talking about I/O other than the screen and pen. As always, I’m looking for listener input as to what YOU want in your next Tablet PC.
We look at the results of the last Poll Question and give this episode’s question. It’s for non-Tablet PC users and it is: How likely is your next PC to be a Tablet PC? Student Tablet PC.
I wrap up the podcast by asking for comments and feedback from the listeners.
Music:
Intro: “Wallawalla” by Drop Trio
Outro: “Second First” by Drop Trio

Welcome back Perry! Sorry to hear about the “blank recording”.
As for the future Tablet PC, I think that the screen should allow for hand-print authentication. Right now, the IBM X41T has a finger reader, but can’t we just allow the screen to do the same? My idea is that one would place their full hand (either right or left) completely on the screen and allow a full biometric authentication.
Also, a believe that we should only be using Voice over IP (VoIP) for all Tablet PC conversations. This can be done now by using Skype and a bluetooth headset. Thus, an EVDO Card (or a similar wireless internet standard) should be built into all tablet PCs. As an alternative, a GSM/CDMA card should be installed to allow the user to use the Tablet PC as a cell phone, once again with the bluetooth headset. This way, the need for additional devices such as a cell phone for communication would be redundant. These separate cell phone “devices” should be always on, where the user can always communicate even if the actual OS has powered down. The use of the secondary screen on the Tablet PC would be ideal for the user to interact with his/her contacts from the “mini Outlook” provided.

I have been listening to the podcast since you have taken it over and have enjoyed it very much so far. If you still have any available, I wouldn’t mind to have an invite for the ML beta. Thanks and keep up the good work!
